Jerome "Jerry" Graeve

Jerome Graeve, 84, passed away on August 25, 2021 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. He was born in Earling, Iowa on March 11, 1937 to William and Stella Graeve.
Jerry graduated from Dowling High School and attended Drake University. He worked as a Sales Representative at Stone Container for 36 years. Jerry was the 1956 State Golden Gloves Boxing Champion and an avid golfer, fisherman, Hawkeye and Cubs fan. Jerry and his wife, Lois were three time Senior State Golf Champions. He was a member of the Terrace Hills Golf Club and the Elks Lodge 98 in Pleasant Hill. Jerry coached for over 15 years for Grandview Little League, as well as serving as a board member. One of his greatest joys was spending time with his family watching Hawkeye games. He was a dedicated family man and never wavered from his faith or family.
Jerry is survived by his children, Terri Graeve, J.D. (Cathy) Graeve and Jeff Graeve; daughter-in-law, Dawna Graeve; 12 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and 1 great great-grandchild; brother, Don (Mae) Graeve; sisters, Junie (Larry) Gookin and Karen (Rusty) Moore; sister-in-law, Sally Graeve; a host of loving family and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lois; son, Brett; parents; and siblings, Ivo, Darlene and Mary.
Private graveside services will be held at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. A memorial luncheon will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, September 16, 2021 at Elks Lodge, 5420 NE 12th Ave., Pleasant Hill.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Ronald McDonald House, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, or Elks Lodge 98 in Pleasant Hill, IA in loving memory of Jerry.

JERRY AND LOIS WERE VERY LOVABLE AND ESPECIALLY DOWN TO EARTH PEOPLE. I REALLY ENJOYED BEING AROUND THEM AND THEIR FAMILY THEY WERE GOOD GOLFERS AND I THINK NOW THAT JERRY HAS PASSED. LOIS IS SAYING "JER" WHAT TOOK YOU SO LONG TO GET HERE I HAVE SET THIS LEAGUE UP AND YOU BETTER SIGN UP AND PUT YOUR MONEY IN AND GET TO PLAYING!!! I am so sorry to hear of Jerry's passing. He was a good friend and we have lots of good memories with Jerry and Lois. We were in one of the Senior Golf Tournments with them. Of course they won!!! May he rest in peace!
