Patricia Lunn
August 25, 2021
Patricia Ann Lunn, (Rankin) 84, passed away surrounded by her family, on August 25, 2021. She was born in Estherville, Iowa, on January 20, 1937, to Merle and Lucille Rankin.
Pat loved spending time with friends and family. She led an active life filled with many activities, but what mattered most to her was spending time with her family. She always put family ahead of her own needs. She enjoyed family reunions, holiday celebrations, dining out, cruises, attending plays and shopping. She loved reading a good mystery book on her iPad, was a dedicated fan of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim baseball team and enjoyed watching her favorite soap operas. She also liked putting puzzles together, crocheting blankets, participating in Red Hat activities, planning class reunions, spending time with high school classmates, work colleagues, and friends from City Disco.
Pat spent most of her life living in Des Moines. She graduated from Tech High School in 1955. She worked part time while raising her children, and after became the co-owner of City Disco bar and lounge. While living and working in California for 12 years, she worked at America West Airlines. Upon returning to Iowa, she worked for Bett’s Army Post Surplus before retiring.
She will be forever cherished and remembered by her children, Jeanie Arthur and Ron Lunn, and her grandchildren (6) and great grandchildren (14). She will be missed by her sister, Anita (Tiny) Pack, as well as her many nieces, nephews, friends and relatives.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Paul Lunn, son, Richard Lunn; daughter, Judy Ann Lunn; her parents; as well as her brothers and sisters, Bud, Jim, Helen, and Honey.
We look forward to a great family reunion in heaven.
A funeral service has been scheduled for Saturday, 9/11/21. The service will begin at 9:30 a.m., at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines, Iowa 50309.

We are saddened to hear of Pattys passing. Utahna went to school with her daughter Jean, (nicknamed Beaner to us) We always said she had the coolest mom. We danced at City Disco, it was the most exciting place to go to. I know she felt love and will be missed.

Oh, Patty...I am just heartbroken. I am so sad that I didn't get to see you again after Richard's funeral last year. And, although I just met you 2 years ago at my brother's bedside in hospice, I felt like you were my family. Hearing the stories of my brother and the gang from back in the day really helped me to get to know my brother more, too. You took care of ME in hospice...you brought me food (and silverware, hahaha), and you made me eat. You cried with me, laughed with me, shared stories with me, and were my friend. I will forever cherish the opportunity to have met you and fondly remember our time spent together with my brother at hospice and at his memorial service and celebration of life. Please give my brother a hug from me and tell him how much I love him. I'll see you all someday...
Love you, Patty.

I will miss you my sweet Aunt Pat. You always looked at the positive in life and regardless of your poor health, you never let anything stop you from whatever you wanted to do. Especially going to California to enjoy time with those you loved most.
You will be missed,
and you were loved. ❤
