WyVonn Willis, Sr.

WyVonn Willis, Sr., age 52, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, August 21, 2021. He was born on August 23, 1968 in Des Moines, Iowa. WyVonn graduated from North High School where he played football and wrestled. He began working for Mercy Hospital as a valet and later for HyVee, where he was known for his hard work ethic that the owner wanted to have WyVonn’s face photographed and wrapped on the semis. He was also worked for Cort Furniture Rental and was awarded Delivery Manager of the Year. No matter where he worked he was always praised by his employers for his optimistic attitude.
WyVonn was a “Jack of All Trades” there wasn’t anything that he could not make or fix whether it be mechanical or electrical. WyVonn had an extreme love for watching WWE and enjoyed his time spent with his family. Anyone that knew WyVonn will remember him for being selfless, thoughtful, and would give the shirt off his back for someone.
WyVonn was truly an amazing son, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. He was so full of life, he never took life too seriously, and made everything a joke. WyVonn loved people and people loved him. He will live on through the hearts and lives that he has touched in his lifetime.
He is lovingly survived by his daughters, Sierra Willis and Alexis Willis; son, WyVonn Willis, Jr.; mother, Garole Willis-Barnes; father, Jesse Williams; sisters, Dana Willis, Precious Willis, and Filice Williams; brother, Regenold Williams; four grandchildren, Ke’Shun Willis, John Nichols, Da’Mari Florence, and Dre’ Vaughn; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and cousins.
WyVonn was preceded in death by his step-father, James Barnes, Sr.; grandmother, Temple Willis; step-grandfather, Linford Willis; and grandfather, Garold Bryson.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., with a memorial service to begin at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, August 28, 2021, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Inurnment will be held at Glendale Cemetery at a later date.
