Gien Lovan, age 78, passed away at 8:52 pm on Tuesday, August 24, 2021 at Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines. He was born on October 6, 1942 in Vietnam. Funeral service will be held at 2:30 pm, Tuesday, August31, 2021 at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave., Des Moines.

He is lovingly survived by his wife, Ai Ca Lovan; children, Bouakham "Boua" Hoang, Kham Kong "Ong" Lovan, Charlie "Noi" Lovan, and Khamchanh "Chanh" Lovan; siblings, Deo Lothi, Kham Piou "Phil" (Vien) Baccam, Gnao Lovan, Hoan "Ae" (Giep) Lovan, and Chai "Lott" (Hil Thon Souk) Lothi; aunts and uncles, Bien Baccam, Yaun Lothi, and Aon Lovan; grandchildren, James, Anthony, Kelsey, Jonathan, Sheila, Kloei, Melinda, Melissa, and Monica; and 17 nieces and nephews.

Gien was preceded in death by his parents; and father-in-law.
