George Lewis White

George Lewis White, 91, passed away at Regency Assisted Living in Norwalk on August 22, 2021.

George was born June 19, 1930, in Rome, Iowa to Walter and Nora “Grace” (Scarff) White. He was a lifelong resident of Norwalk, Iowa. He was married to Betty for 58 years before her passing in 2016. George was passionate about the Awana program for kids and was an avid Iowa Hawkeyes, Chicago Bears, and Chicago White Sox fan. Above all, his grandchildren were his pride and joy.

George is survived by his children, Brenda (Jim) Steinke, Roger (Mary) White, Beverly (Jim) Scott, and Richard (Joyce) White; 13 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and other extended family and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty; parents; and siblings, Edward, Carol, Norma, Phyllis and Ila Kay.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 27, 2021 at Martensdale Community Church, 3953 Hoover Street, Prole, Iowa. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. also at the church. A private family burial will be held at Grant Cemetery, Rome, Iowa. The family respectfully asks guests to wear masks and practice social distancing.
