Janet Fay Winship
August 21, 2021
Janet Chrisman Winship was born January 20, 1952. She passed away on August 21, 2021, at the age of 69.
Janet enjoyed gardening, camping, teaching her piano students, art, baking and the Iowa State Fair, where she was a blue ribbon winner. She had a smile for everyone she met and was a friend to all with her joy, kindness, compassion and sense of humor. Janet took great pride in her home.
She eschewed electronics but loved her acoustic piano. Three words to best describe Janet would be; smooth, funny and relaxed. Her husband Russ would say, “she came in my front door, and she never left”.
She is survived by her loving husband of 32 years, Russ Winship; sister, Joyce Fletcher; sister-in-law, Maryann Chrisman; and many nieces, nephews and extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Eva Chrisman; father, Hugh Chrisman; and brother, Robert Chrisman.
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, August 28, 2021, at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Iowa State Fair Blue Ribbon Foundation in loving memory of Janet.

So very sad to hear about Janet... deepest condolences to her family and students. She had a wonderful personality that made me smile, and always came in the music store bringing chocolate. She will be missed. :(

Our deepest condolences Russ and families. Janet was a special person. Patient, kind and so nice to all. Her piano students, including our daughter, were so blessed to have her in their lives. She made a difference and set a great example.
We were very surprised and sad to hear of her passing. Her positive self and wonderful, inviting personality will be missed by all. So sorry Russ..

My deepest condolences to Russ and families in the loss of Janet. Being a wonderful neighbor, she would explain what she had growing in her garden and how to use in recipes. Janet would let me know if I left my garage door open at night, I would let her know if lights on in her car. Always a smile on her face. She will be missed!
