Rusty Hart

Rusty Jack Hart, 43, passed away unexpectedly on August 21, 2021 on his way to Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa.

Rusty was born November 28, 1977 in Des Moines, Iowa to Jack and Linda (Cooney) Hart. He loved racing and most of all teasing his friends and family. He was a jokester and will always be remembered for his ornery nature. Those who knew Rusty knew that he always had to be the center of attention. He loved making people laugh and had a gift for capturing a photo of his friends and family when least expected. Rusty will be deeply missed.

Rusty is survived by his loving wife, Sally Downing; children, Mackenzie and Kendyl Hart; granddaughter Jersey aka “Pookie Bear” Hart; parents, Jack and Linda Hart; sister, Stacey (Jeff) Foster; maternal grandmother, Marie Cooney; many extended relatives; and friends who were like family.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Cory Hart; maternal grandpa, Orval Cooney; nephew, Kevin Foster; paternal grandparents, Ralph and Louise Hart; and uncle, Terry Cooney.

A visitation will be held Wednesday, August 25, 2021 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue, Des Moines, Iowa. A celebration of life also at the funeral home will be held on Thursday, August 26, 2021 at 10am. Rusty will be buried at Berwick Cemetery at a later date.

Memorial contributions can be directed to the family in loving memory of Rusty Hart. The family will utilize the contributions to go towards causes close to his heart.
