Sherry Stanton, was called home peacefully on Friday, August 20, 2021, after her courageous fight with cancer. Sherry was born the daughter of Paul and Eva (Rasmussen) Brass on January 20, 1951 in Iowa Falls, Iowa.

Sherry ran an in home day care for 42 years and cared for more than 125 children during that time. She was involved in various roles at church, she taught Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, and attended ladies Bible study groups, Card & Prayer group, she wrote and mailed out cards for birthdays, anniversaries, sympathy, get well cards, and encouragement cards. She sent out approximately 1,100 cards every year.

Sherry enjoyed crafting, spending time with family, and playing with our grandkids was one of her favorite things to do. She was always concerned about others and encouraged everyone she could in various ways. Sherry loved her family deeply and will be sorely missed.

Those left to cherish her memory include her loving husband of 49 years, Dennis Stanton; children, Michelle (Patrick) Rounds, Mark Stanton, and Misty (Jeff) Phillips; sister, Elizabeth (Betsy) Brass; brothers, Jack (Glenda) Brass and Roger Crippen; mother-in-law, Betty Butt; brothers-in-law, Dale (Shelley) Stanton and Alan (Eadie) Stanton; sisters-in-law, Teri Cywinski and Barb Barghahn; seven grandchildren, Sophie Rounds, Cassie Rounds, Nicholas Rounds, Kelsey Phillips, Brayden Phillips, Beckham Phillips, and Noah Stanton; numerous extended family, friends, and church family.

Sherry was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Cindy Cook; brother, David Brass; and granddaughter, Kaylee Stanton.

Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, August 25, 2021, at Rising Sun Church of Christ, 6390 NE Rising Sun Dr., Pleasant Hill. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Thursday, August 26th, also at the church. The service may be attended virtually at: www.RisingSunChurch.org
