Margaret Mary "Dolly" Dalbey
August 13, 2021
Margaret Mary “Dolly” Dalbey, 92, of Urbandale, IA, passed away on Friday, August 13, 2021 in the arms of her loving children.
Dolly was born on December 29, 1928, the daughter of Wayman and Lillian (Hillman) Gift. She had a very strong faith in our Lord Jesus Christ and the Virgin Mary, having made two pilgrimages to Medjugorje. She lived her faith and shared it with her family.
Dolly enjoyed playing cards with her friends and family. She was an excellent seamstress and quilter, who lovingly made many intricate quilts for her great-grandchildren. Dolly had a love for the beach and lived in Clearwater, Florida for 20 years.
Dolly kept a very loving home and her door was always open. She had the talent of always making people feel welcome and would even make their favorite dish when they would visit. She was a wonderful cook. She was an animal lover and the family had many pets. The most important things in Dolly’s life were her family, and being an example of love and forgiveness. Her belief was, “Love starts at home”.
She is survived by her children, Gwendolyn Laden (Robert), David Dalbey, Patty Konecny (Scott), Peggy Freylack (David), Theresa Grandquist (Ted), Daniel Dalbey; daughter-in-law, Joyce Dalbey; grandchildren: Joshua, Courtney, Christian, Ryan, Justin, Brooke, Nick, Lindsay, Sarah, Maggie, Teddy; 16 great-grandchildren: Tessa, Elle, Lily, Torsten, Annabella, Athaniel, Alekzander, Holden, Cam, Cora, Graham, Kipton, Hazel, Zoe, Harrison and Lucie; and brother, Thomas Gift.
Margaret was preceded in death by her mother, father, son, Gregory Dalbey, sister, Betty Zarling, brother, Bud Gift, and sister, Ruth Pearson.
Private family services will be held. Flowers may be sent to Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines prior to the evening of Tuesday, August 17th
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to St. Croix Hospice, and Dolly’s special caretakers, Tina Boettcher, Mary Le Barron, and Britni Lone, for their loving and compassionate care of Dolly.

Your mother was like a second mother to me. She was my mother, Pat Trickeys dearest friend for well over 50 years. They raised children together and even though they were separated by many miles for part of their lives they reunited in Florida for their last years.
They both had a very strong belief in the lord, they had many, many hobbies in common but what I remember most was the laughs and fun they shared together.
As my mother approached the end of her life in 2015 Dolly was there at her side every day.
What a wonderful, beautiful spirit she was.
Im crying as I write this.
I know they are together now playing cards, sewing and having a joyous time I heaven.
Much love to Dolly and her wonderful family.
