Connie Jo Cronin

Connie Jo Cronin, age 71, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 15, 2021 in the comfort of her own home, surrounded by her family.
Connie was born April 3, 1950 in Ottumwa, Iowa and graduated from Lincoln High School in Des Moines. She was raised in loving faith and attended Highland Park Open Bible Church in her youth, and later attended Abundant Life Church. Connie always had a connection with children and was able to help so many through her work as a foster parent.
Connie is survived by children, Leanette (David) Valen, Jerry Cronin and Leanne (Steve) McCulley; three sisters; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; 25 foster children; and a host of extended family and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry; biological parents, Melbourne and Ruth Pettit; and her adoptive parents, Oramel and Margaret Pettit.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, September 4, 2021 at the Fraternal Order of Eagles, 6567 Bloomfield Road. Connie will be laid to rest at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter at 9:30 a.m. Friday, September 3, 2021.

Connie and Jerry were special people very supportive of others and very giving. We knew them well from Little league days. Connie was quite but strong and very loving towards all children. And an example of what it means to be a Mother.

My heart goes out to all of Connie's family, her foster children, and her friends who were blessed to have had her touch their lives. Her wonderful, giving spirit was a gift to all who knew her. She was my life-long friend who I will dearly miss. May God bless you all.
