Dorothy Thompson
August 13, 2021
Dorothy Ann Thompson, 82, was born March 4, 1939 in Waukon, Iowa, the daughter of Henry and Edna (Brink) Thornton. She passed away unexpectedly
at her home Friday, August 13, 2021.
Dorothy loved to travel with her former husband, Al Thompson – they lived in Minnesota for 20 years, before she moved to California and lived for another 20 years. Dorothy also lived in Arizona and Johnston most recently, and jokingly referred to herself as a “snowbird” as she wintered in Arizona,
even when traveling there just from California.
Dorothy was the life of the party everywhere she went. She was lovingly known as the “center hub” of her neighborhood functions, as she had a way of bringing everyone together, whether for a potluck or just any special gathering making memories. Above all else, Dorothy treasured time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Dorothy is survived by her brother, Carl (Joyce) Thornton; sisters, Pauline LaVelle, Judy Kimber and Liz (Terry) Wedo; children, Mark Judge, Kim (Tom) Grove and Tracey (Rick) Milbrandt; grandchildren, Erin Judge, Jessica Judge, Matthew Judge, Danny (Sarah) Judge, Nichole (Tom) Armstrong, Ashley Jordan, Melissa Jordan, Leslie (Adam) Bancroft, TJ Grove and Teddy (Garrett) Kelly; great-grandchildren, Jack and Kali Judge, Lauren Kelly, Atlas Bancroft and Hayden Foley; other loving relatives and many special friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter,
Lori Jordan and sisters, Margaret Carter and Jean Urell.
The family will greet friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, August 18, 2021 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St. A Celebration of Life service
will begin at 6 p.m. with cremation to follow.
Memorial contributions may be directed to AHeinz 57 Pet Rescue and Transport or Daughters of the American Revolution in loving memory of Dorothy. On-line condolences may be expressed at www.HamiltonsFuneralHome.com

I really miss my friend, neighbor Dorothy. We seen each other most days and I miss our conversations. I do have her puppy Rocky who was the joy of her life this past year. Happy to have him and I think she would be happy too. We spent a lot of hours together. RIP Dorothy.

Dorothy was a bright light in my life, going back to our days at Horizon Agency in MN. Her energy and love of life were infectious. I was fortunate enough to visit Dorothy in both California and in Iowa; memories of those visits and the laughs we shared are forever etched in my heart. Gonna miss you, Miz Dorothy, but I know you are "shaking things up" in Heaven. Love you, lady...

We were former townhome neighbors with Dorothy. She always brought so much life & energy to our neighborhood. Her love of socializing brought people together. Her love of flowers & landscaping beautified her home & was a blessing to all who witnessed it. She is now mesmerized by all of the beauty in Heaven. Our hearts & prayers go out to her family & friends. Dorothy will be definitely missed by many.
