Kevin Lee Klisares
August 05, 2021
Kevin Lee Klisares, 61, passed away at his home on August 5, 2021.
Kevin was born October 4, 1959, in Des Moines to Robert Lee and Rosalee Romeo Klisares. He graduated from Lincoln High School and attended Des Moines Area Community College. Kevin went on to work for PDI for many years and Doors, Inc. Kevin loved the outdoors and spent countless weekends at the family’s cabin, Argos Acres, where he enjoyed hunting, fishing and all things nature. One of Kevin’s most cherished memories was traveling Europe with his Papa and Nana Romeo, where they spent time visiting their families' native homes in both Italy and Greece. The grand finale of the trip was celebrating October Fest in Germany. On this trip, Kevin discovered his passion for great food and wine and became an excellent chef in his own kitchen. Kevin had a big heart and loved spending time with his family, especially the light of his life, daughter Emily.
Despite suffering a major stroke seven years ago, Kevin kept a positive attitude every day and loved making people laugh with his teasing sense of humor. He was very proud and happy that he was able to live independently in his own home for the rest of his life.
Kevin will be greatly missed by his daughter, Emily; mother, Rosalee Klisares; brothers, Michael (Jennifer) and Jeffrey (Becky); sisters, Kathy Klisares and Jennifer O’Hara (Brad); many nieces and nephews and one great niece.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Klisares and his sister, Julie Anne Klisares.
A Celebration of Life will be at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Klisares Family Scholarship at Simpson College.

When we heard the news that Kevin had passed, our hearts were broken. Kevin was a very dear friend of our entire family. We had a lot of fun together. These last seven years showed just how strong of a person Kevin was. The perseverance to endure the medical challenges he had to deal with along with living independently is a testament to his character. Kevin was one of the most talented and gifted people I've ever known. Not only did we share the same first name but we also worked together for several years. Those were great times. Kevin will be truly missed. Thoughts of prayers and peace go out to you and your entire family.
