Robert Kolk

Robert H. Kolk, 85, passed away at his home Wednesday, October 7, 2009. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, October 12, 2009 at Hamilton's Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street. Visitation will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. A private family burial will take place at Avon Cemetery at a later date.

Robert was born March 6, 1924 in Des Moines to Harry and Frances (Simpson) Kolk. He graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1942 and served in the U.S. Army during WWII. Robert worked as a landscaper in the Des Moines area. He enjoyed fishing and lapidary and was a past member of the Des Moines Lapidary Club.

Robert is survived by his wife of 60 years, Jerre; son, Dennis (Deb) Kolk; daughters, Diane (Gary) Cline and Terri (David) Cromer; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Ronald Kolk.
