Charlotte Lauridsen, age 81, passed away at her home on Thursday, August 5, 2021, surrounded by her loving family. She was born the daughter of Virginia and Charles Hulen, Jr. on April 17, 1940, in Lancaster, Missouri. Charlotte graduated from Lancaster High School. She later moved to Des Moines where she met and married the love of her life, Earl Lauridsen on March 19, 1960.
Charlotte loved spending time with her family out on the family lake house on Lake Ponderosa. Some of her hobbies and interests included, Red Hat Society, coaching softball, water aerobics, shopping, watching movies, and going out to concerts and dinners. She especially enjoyed going to the Iowa State Fair and was known to be there from sun up to sun down.
Charlotte was diagnosed with ALS in September of 2017, and had a long hard fight. Her family lovingly took care of her up until the very end. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Those left to cherish her memory include her loving daughters, Belinda Lauridsen and Michele McKibben; son, Doug Lauridsen; granddaughter, Megan McKibben; sister, Jean Saulsbury; furry grandpup, Tito; and a host of nieces and nephews, other loving relatives and many special friends.
Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Earl Lauridsen; and sister, Carolyn Ingram.
The family will greet friends from 5 to 8 p.m., Thursday, August 12, 2021 at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave., Des Moines. Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Friday, August 13, 2021 also, at the funeral home, with burial to follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, family would appreciate donations be directed to the ALS Association Iowa Chapter in memory of Charlotte.
