Danita Carter

Danita Carter, age 54, passed away due to Covid on Tuesday, August 3, 2021.

Danita was born December 15, 1966 in St. Louis, Missouri to Roylee and Carolyn (Jordan) Gardner. In addition to St. Louis, she lived in Minnesota, and has been a resident of the Des Moines area for the past 15 years. She loved her family above all else. Danita enjoyed drawing, cooking, and sewing.

She is survived by her husband, Jerry Carter of Des Moines; children, Orpheus Hicks of Des Moines, Lakeisha Gardner (Redell Walls) of Arizona, and Jerry Carter Jr. of Des Moines; four grandchildren; mother, Carolyn Gardner; sisters, Dorine (Jeff) Williams of Missouri and Deltry (Charles) Coles of Minnesota; and many nieces, nephews, other extended family and friends.

Danita was preceded in death by her father, Roylee Gardner and her son, Dontae Gardner.

Cremation will occur and there will be no services held at this time.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to the family in loving memory of Danita.
