Margaret “Peggy” Ann Foster, 90, passed away August 1, 2021, at Scottish Rite Park in Des Moines.
Margaret was born March 31, 1931, in Hampton, Iowa to Everett and Esther Juhl. In addition to Hampton, she lived in Bellville, Illinois and Cheyenne, Wyoming prior to moving to Des Moines in 1955.

She also delighted in sifting through history, working as a professional genealogical researcher for 20 years. She was a member of the Iowa Genealogical Society and Early Wheels of Iowa. She loved to travel, and did so often with her sisters.
Margaret is survived by her loving husband of 70 years, John Foster; children, Kate (Richard) Wolf, Karin Foster, Mark (Kim) Foster and Candy (Rob) Foster; sisters, Janice Hyde and Audrey Clayton; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Herb Juhl; her son, Rob Foster; son-in-law, Richard Wolf; and her great-grandson, Damon McManus.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Margaret will be laid to rest at Union Cemetery in Iowa Falls, Iowa. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Iowa Genealogical Society at iowagenealogy.org.

My first memory of Margaret was my first time volunteering at the Iowa Genealogical Society as a library volunteer. She helped this newbie out and was great about sharing that vast array of knowledge packed into her brain. That was over 40 years ago. A real Iowa treasure that is greatly missed.

My sympathy to the Foster family. Peg was always a pleasure to be with during family outings. As mentioned, her genealogist career, often led to some really interesting stories.

The Foster family were great southside neighbors for many years, as Mark and I were close friends in elementary and junior high. I pray God's love and blessings for John, Kathy, Karin and Mark.

She was my "big sister" and I'll miss her. We haven't lived in the same place since the early 1950's but I'll still miss our phone calls and trips. Like the ones to Canada, Denmark and Holland, Alaska, Savannah and New England where she had "found" our DAR Patriot. She was an amazing genealogist back when it was done the hard way. Love you, Peg
