Edward Boggs

Edward Boggs, 84, passed away August 1, 2021, at Taylor House Hospice surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Des Moines on January 5, 1937, to Hayden and Beatrice Boggs.

Following his graduation from Des Moines Tech in 1955, he attended Drake University. Edward began his career at Wells Fargo at the age of 17 working as a type setter. He retired in 1999 as a print manager after 44 years and 7 months of dedicated service. Edward also owned and operated E&D Tax Services for a number of years.

He was united in marriage to Donna Marie Wimber on August 7, 1958, in Des Moines. Edward was a member of Toastmasters, a public speaking organization, serving as a past president.

Edward enjoyed reading, playing cribbage, and traveling. A true creature of habit, Edward ate a banana a day and had his milk and cookies before bedtime.

Edward is survived by his sons, Hayden (Marcy) Boggs and Michael (Angela) Boggs; grandchildren, Bryon Boggs, Tiffany (Adam) Capps, Arran Boggs, and Rachel Boggs; great-grandchildren, Claire, Clark, Carsyn, and Conway, and other family and friends.

Edward is preceded in death by his wife, Donna in 2015, parents, and six sisters; Francis, Nellie, Rosemary, Margaret, Nina, and Evelyn, and one brother, Harry.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 7, 2021, at Hamilton’s Altoona Funeral Home, 105 4th Street SW with burial to follow at Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home Friday evening from 5-7 p.m.
