John Sirevaag, 83, passed away at his daughter and son-in-law’s residence in Urbandale, Iowa on Thursday, July 29, 2021.

John was born in March, 1938 to Jakob and Margreta Sirevåg in Sirevåg, Norway. He immigrated to America at the age of 20. He lived 15 years in the Chicago area, where he married Sonja Marie Strand, born May, 1943, the daughter (adopted) of Norwegian immigrants Mauritz and Hjørdis Strand, after her birth mother, Eileen Wisuri, gave her up for adoption as an infant.

John became a mold-maker, while Sonja was a home-maker. They had two daughters in Chicago, Randi and Gayle. Sonja became a born-again child of GOD (John 3:3-18,) during this time.

In 1973, John started his own business, Catalina Tool and Mold in Tucson, Arizona, where their son Jakob was born. Sonja was very active in her church: 22nd Street Baptist. John became a born-again child of GOD in 1982.

In 1986 the Sirevaags moved to Bellevue, Washington, where John started JaDon Tool, named after son Jakob and grandson Donald. They also lived in Seattle, Issaquah, and finally Birch Bay by the Canadian border.

In spring 2019, John and Sonja were moved to Iowa. Sonja Marie Sirevaag, 77, passed away at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Indianola, Iowa on December 26, 2020.

John and Sonja are survived by their daughters, Randi Nelson and Gayle Koerber and their son, Jakob Sirevaag, six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. John is also survived by three of seven siblings: Tormod, Signe, and Yngvar, all still in Norway.
