Nathan Jonas Jordison (Joey)
July 26, 2021
Nathan Jonas Jordison (Joey) passed away peacefully in his sleep on
July 26, 2021 at the age of 46.
Joey was born on April 26, 1975 in Des Moines Iowa and grew up in Waukee, Iowa with his father, Steve Jordison, his mother, Jackie and two younger sisters, Katie (Shaun) and Annie (Chris).
Joey's love for music was evident at an early age and he was given his first drum set when he was eight years old. Joey performed in many bands as a teen-ager and in 1995 co-founded the band that would later become known as "Slipknot". Over the years Joey spearheaded even more bands, worked as a producer and performed session work as both a drummer and guitarist. His uncompromised talents would later lead to multiple platinum records and a Grammy Award with "Slipknot" in 2005.
Joey's accomplishments as a musician are undeniable, but his family and friends remember him best for his giving heart and his sharp, satirical sense of humor. He loved to make people laugh, but got the biggest "kick" out of laughing at himself.
Joey fought several health issues for many years and truly sought God's help during his struggles. In the end, it was He who decided Joey had finally struggled long enough and peacefully brought him home.
Joey is survived by his parents, sisters, brother, Lukas Jordison, three nephews (Jonas, Jude, Levin) and a niece (Annella), a grandmother (Kay Williams) and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Family and friends will celebrate Joey's precious life privately.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation in Joey's name be made to Music Minds Matter or Animal Rescue League of Iowa.

My deepest sympathies go out to Joey's family, Amanda, and his friends who stood by him to the end.
I never met or knew Joey, but his influence on me through his music is something I have never experienced with anyone else.
You were taken far too soon. You had so much left to offer, it is a tragic loss. You will forever be missed the world over.
Rest easy, Joey .

I had the privilege of meeting Joey at a signing he did in Birmingham and even though there was a queue a mile long he stopped to talk about the things Id brought for him to sign for ages with me. It was probably a minute but to me it felt like an hour and for someone whos been that big an inspiration to me to take the time to really talk to me was everything to me. That day was also the day I met my better half so Joey will always hold a very dear place in both our hearts. Rest in peace to the greatest of all time. Condolences to his loved ones in this difficult time.

I'm beyond shocked, devastated, heartbroken, and at a loss for words! I'm deeply saddened by the loss of Joey. My heart stopped beating for a moment when I heard about Joey's passing.I never thought that a "celebrity's" death could ever impact me as much as Joey's did. I guess that shows how much good influence he had on me and others. I got into Slipknot during my teenage years( 7th grade). I fell in love with their music & became Joey's #1 fan.I never got the chance to see him play live. I just hoped that one day I could get the opportunity to meet him in person and tell him how amazing he is to me and how much I admire him.Growing up I wanted to be just like him! I let my hair grow long and kept it that way because of him.
I recently purchased a mask because of him! All I know is that we lost the best drummer in the world. Joey, you will forever be my "Murderdoll" . Stay ( Sic).🤘💔😢

Im beyond shocked, devastated, heartbroken, and at a loss for words! Joey was one of my top ten favorite drummers and inspirations into the drumming world! A true heavy metal legend! Like former bassist Paul Gray, Joey was also part of the key to the bands success! He was like a brother to me just like the other eight members of the band were! I wish I could have met him! I had the privilege of seeing him perform with Slipknot in 2009 and I am forever grateful for that! Your legacy will never die and you will never be forgotten! My thoughts and prayers go out to Joey and his family! I miss you so much bro! Rest In Peace!

I remember seeing Joey playing in the Waukee middle school band and later on the high school band alongside my own kids. Sympathy to all whose lives he touched
