Harold Sanford

Harold Sanford, Sr., 68, passed away Tuesday, October 6, 2009 at Mercy Medical Center. He was born June 13, 1941 in Des Moines to Cecil and Rose Sanford. He was a truck driver for over 30 years, and a member of the Teamsters. He “retired” in 2004 and began work as a custodian for Johnston Schools. Harold loved to work, and was always helping and taking care of others, especially his children and grandchildren.
Harold is survived by his wife of 51 years, Sandra; children, Harold Jr., Bryan (Kathy) and Shawn (Kat) Sanford; brothers, Ronald and Dennis Sanford; sister, Deanna Rizk; and his grandchildren, Abigail and Drake. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, October 9, 2009 at All Saints Catholic Church, 650 NE 53rd Ave., with burial following at Lowman Cemetery in Runnells, IA. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m., with a Prayer Service at 7 p.m. at Hamilton's Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street.
