Harold Martin

Harold Gene Martin, 53, passed away July 20, 2021 at UnityPoint Health Iowa Methodist Medical Center.
Harold was born October 1, 1967 in Des Moines, Iowa to Robert and Joyce (Mitchell) Martin. He graduated from Lincoln High School and he went on to farrier school where he became a licensed horseshoer. He was a member of the Local Laborers Union 177.
He enjoyed horses, fishing, mushroom hunting, hunting, Harleys and darts.
Harold is survived by his father, Robert “Bob” Martin; siblings, Philip (Shaun) Martin, Wendell (Bambi Barber) Martin and Steve Martin; girlfriend, Glenda Phillips; son, Christopher and his children; nieces and nephew, Nicole (Ira) Martin, Megan (John) VanderEcken, Amy (Bob) Martin, Gerri Powell and Steve Martin, Jr.; great nieces and nephews, Amyah, Jordan, Easton, Maverick, and Lilly; and a host of extended family and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Joyce.
The family will greet friends from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 25, 2021 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 26, 2021 also at the funeral home. Harold will be laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Harold was a great guy, I met him in Jr high and I've always had nothing but love and respect for him. We worked together later in life doing asbestos removal for local 177. Harold was always full of life and laughs he will be truly missed. RIP MY FRIEND

I was sad and shocked to hear of Harolds passing. I am at a loss for words, and I know no words would do justice to describe my sympathies anyway. Harold was a true friend. Always helpful, always positive, supportive, humourous and loved. My deepest sympathy for your loss.
