Lorayne, Lien, age 92, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 21, 2021 in Des Moines.

Lorayne was born July 28, 1928 in Erskine, Minnesota. In addition to Des Moines, she also lived in Moorhead, Minnesota and enjoyed being a “snow bird” in Arizona. She worked as an accountant and whatever it took for the family business, Lien Construction.

Lorayne loved flowers; she had rose bushes, hibiscus and geraniums. She also loved to decorate and was always talking about improving a space.

She is survived by her children, Naomi Emery and Craig (Kim) Lien; grandchildren, Stephen and Jesseca; brother, Sanford Vig; as well as other extended family and friends.

Lorayne was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Dwayne Lien; and her siblings, Laverna, Marlin and Janet.

She lived life on her own terms. When she was a young woman she lived in the Phoenix area with some friends. While living there, she kept in contact with Harold by writing letters. When Harold left the service, they got married.

When she was shown a picture of Harold she would kiss him and say “I miss you”.

There will be a memorial service at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to the American Diabetes Association, specifically to be directed to Type 1 research or juvenile diabetes detection.
