Lawrence "Larry" Steele

Lawrence “Larry” David Steele, 83, passed away July 15, 2021, at Prairie Hills Assisted Living in Des Moines.
Larry was born June 17, 1938, in Des Moines to John “Patrick” and Elizabeth “Betty” (Slack) Steele. He received his Associate Degree in Criminal Justice. Larry retired as a Criminal Investigator for the Iowa Lottery. He served in the Iowa Air Guard for six years. Larry was a member of the Bellizzi MacRae American Legion Post 659.
Larry is survived by his wife, Beulah “Lee” Steele; children, Diana (Joseph) Tarpey, Daniel (Linda) Steele, Mark (Sharrie) Steele and Amy Steele; grandson, Jason Rodgers; great-grandchildren, Matteson and Isabella Rodgers; siblings, Jane (Ralph) Leto and Dennis Steele; brothers-in-law, Kenneth Bauge and Leonard Reeves; and a host of extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Suzanne Reeves and Sandra Bauge.
The family will greet friends Thursday, July 22, 2021, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street followed by a graveside service at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

So sorry to hear of Larry's passing. I was an investigator with the Mn Gambling Control. We had many fun times at conferences all over the Midwest. Larry was a great investigator and friend.

Larry, I agree with the others. You were always welcoming to Frank and I when we started going to Christ the King. It made us feel like we made the right choice. Your hug on Sunday mornings made us feel special. You're a good man, I am sorry your health took you away so fast, but I am happy you are not suffering.
