Nellie M Swartz

Nellie Swartz, 71, went to join her soulmate on July 12, 2021, while surrounded by her loving family. An Open House will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Thursday, July 15, 2021 at the family’s home.

Nellie was born February 1, 1950 in Albia, Iowa to Claude and Nellie Sharp. She graduated from Albia High School in 1968. On December 15, 1973, she married Richard Jr. Swartz, II. In 1985, Nellie started an in-home daycare which she operated until 2007. She enjoyed reading, computer games, animals, flower gardening, doing crossword puzzles and Sudoku. Nellie was an avid Iowa Hawkeye and Chicago Cubs fan. In her younger years, she enjoyed bowling. She was a former member of Grace Baptist Church in Des Moines.

Nellie is survived by her children, Christopher (Jessica) Swartz, Jennifer (Mark) Howard and Joey (Shonna) Swartz; grandchildren, Austin, Caleb, Evah, Ryan, Angel (Kyle), Arianna (Caylee), Dirrik (Helen), Khloe, Kelcie, Zachary and Savannah; great-grandchildren, Kylee and Kennedy; siblings, Mary Allison, Danny Sharp, Frank (Fran) Sharp, John (Sherry) Sharp, LeRoy (Cynthia) Sharp and Sandy Sharp; and a host of extended family and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, mother and father in-law, Clara and Richard Jr. Swartz, Sr. and her grandson, Trey Lambert.
