On Sunday, October 4, 2009, Judith Ann Johnson passed away peacefully in her sleep at Prime Towers Nursing Home.

Judith was born August 24, 1940 to Ray and Bernice (Butler) Bales. She loved to talk about old times, past experiences, many friends and her days in beauty school. Judith loved her television and taking rides in the car. Throughout the years she did many things; bartending, professional gift wrapping, cake decorating, pool, bowling and cribbage.

Judith is survived by her daughters, Kelly Teresa (Robin Keith) Wheeler, Ronda Michelle (Lynn) Schlichte, Shawn Rene Kramer and Brandi Anne McKay; grandchildren, Bradley Allan (Crystal Lewellin & kids) Wheeler, Keela Marie (James Shepherd) Wheeler, Cody Schlichte, Harry David III, Tanner James, Cassandra Ann, Austin Michael and Collin Joel Kramer, Shay, Devin and Alexi Lincoln; great-grandson, Andrew Michael Wheeler; sisters, Ray Ann (Mike) Scione and Linda Ann Hill; half-brothers, Raymond, Ronnie and Randy Bales; step-sister, Linda Lee Mortimer; nephews, Carl, Chris and Chad Burt, Jerry Leroy Jr. and Brian Hill, Patrick Rush, Billy Johnson and Mike Welshon. She was preceded in eternal life by her parents; husband, James Elbert Johnson; daughter, Jamie Ray Johnson; son, James Elbert Johnson, Jr.; niece, Denise Rene Harrison; nephew Jamie Ray Hill; and her sister, Patricia Ann Bales, all of whom are loved and missed.

The family will greet friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, October 7, 2009 at Hamilton's Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at True Bible Baptist Church, 4101 Amherst St. with Pastor Rod Bradley officiating. Her body will be cremated and she will be laid to rest along with her mother, Bernice, husband, James Elbert and sister, Patty at Laurel Hill Cemetery.
