Dennis H. Law
July 08, 2021
Dennis Law, 70, was born June 22, 1951 in Des Moines and passed away peacefully at his home Thursday, July 8, 2021.
Denny grew up on the south side of Des Moines and graduated from Lincoln High School. He retired from Industrial Refrigeration Services after many years of faithful service.
Denny enjoyed bowling, softball, golfing and his annual trips to the Iowa State Fair. He was an avid Chicago Cubs fan. He loved car racing, whether it was NASCAR, sprint car or whatever kind of car. He recently enjoyed a good ‘ol game of BINGO. He had a generous heart of gold, he would donate to every single charity that would send him anything. Above all else, he enjoyed spending time and making memories with all of his family and friends. Denny treasured time spent with his grandchildren and his four-legged furry friend, Ginger. He especially loved shopping at Target with his granddaughters, Abbi and Kaitlyn. He loved cheering on his grandchildren in all of their sporting events, and even loved cheering on others’s grandchildren- he was always so very proud of them.
Denny is survived by his daughter, Michelle Grother; son-in-law, Andy; grandchildren, Abbigail, Paul and Ryan; sisters, Rosie (Rick) Craig and Dena “Haroldine” (Larry) West; nephew, Blake Burgess; great-niece, Kaitlyn Burgess; and many more nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Virginia Law; wife, Joyce Law; and grandson, Colby Allison.
The family will greet friends from 5 – 8 pm Wednesday, July 14, 2021 at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway. Memorial services will be 11 am Thursday, July 15 at the funeral home with burial to follow at Iowa Veterans Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in loving memory of Denny.

My condolences to Denny's family and friends. He was a fun act to follow. He bowled for years with my dad Bill Michael. Back in the day when the bowlers hand kept their score, I'd go with my dad and keep score for both sides. I'd root for the other guy's and Denny would say, 'you need another Taqulia Sunrise!' Then we'd laugh and sometimes he'd root for the other guy's also. He was a very good sport, got mad and upset at times but all around good guy. I ran the youth Bowlerama Lanes leagues for years and he brought his grandson's Paul and Ryan. He was very dedicated to those boy's. R.I.P. Denny and welcomed to team Heaven with my dad and other greats, Toni

We're so very sorry to hear of Denny's passing. Some of the best memories we made were with Denny & Joyce & the rest of the gang, traveling to MI every year for the NASCAR race. Denny was a simple man with the biggest heart of anyone we know. He will be greatly missed. Deepest sympathies to his daughter & other family.
