Marlou Ethelyn (Olson) Tingle
July 06, 2021
Marlou Tingle passed peacefully away at her home on Tuesday, July 6, 2021 in Altoona, Iowa.
Marlou was born March 8, 1936 to Herbert and Lina Olson, in Osakis, Minnesota on the family farm.
Her siblings included two older brothers and six sisters. Mom attended a one room schoolhouse where they would often walk the three miles to and from school. Born like many from that era, grew up with extremely humble beginnings and was taught the importance of family and values. This she mastered and shared this wonderful trait with her own family. Enjoying all family gatherings and making them special to all in her own special way was truly a talent. Cooking, baking desserts or crocheting that special baby blanket is something we all enjoyed and admired. She also had a special gift of poetry. She often would write a heartfelt poem for people when the occasion called for it. Poetry was a passion of hers that she did well. She had a beautiful gift.
Marlou married her second husband, John Tingle in 1971, moving to Runnells, Iowa and blended two large families. Giving all of us an opportunity to be a part of a loving family and enjoying life even more.
Marlou is survived by her six children; Bob Loeffler, Richard Loeffler (Connie Loeffler), Donna Kelce (Tim Kelce-Deceased and Bill Bergell-Deaceased), Thomas Tingle (Jane Tingle), Lori Ginapp (Mike Ginapp) and James Tingle (Kathe Tingle).
Her five step children; Vickie Davis-Deceased, Dave Tingle (Diane Tingle), Carol Dikis (Bill), James Tingle-Deceased (Sue Tingle) and Scott Tingle (Carol Tingle).
Not to be forgotten are her 12 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and 9 great great grandchildren.
She also survived by her four sisters; Doreen Lentz, Wanda Thun, Judy Alcott and Bonnie Gibson. As well as her brother in law, Fred Tingle (Dee Tingle)
Many thanks to all for the special care given to mom during this past year!!
A Memorial Celebration of Life will be at a later date at the Runnells Community Center in Runnells, Iowa.
Marlou and her husband John Tingle will be laid to rest together at Lowmans Cemetery in Runnells, Iowa.
Donations may be made to EveryStep Hospice House, Des Moines, Iowa 3000 Easton Blvd, Des Moines, Iowa 50317.

We got to know Marlou through Dave & Diane Tingle. We enjoyed time with her when they brought her to our Sunday lunches at El Rodeo. I will never forget the laughs we had when she shared she had some small red sunglasses for chickens! Wed never heard of that. Hope someone saves those small red sunglasses.
