Steven R. Kellis

Steven Robert Kellis, 71, passed away peacefully on July 7, 2021, at his home in Milo, Iowa.

Steve was born on December 6, 1949 in Des Moines, Iowa to William and Patricia (Chittenden) Kellis. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army. He worked as a Nurses’ Aide for Lutheran Hospital and After Care Center prior to his retirement in 1999. Steve loved his dogs, Luke and Baby. He liked being outdoors, taking care of his yard, and gardening. Steve enjoyed spending time in his garage, listening to the radio, and visiting with friends and neighbors. His hobbies included photography and model airplanes and cars. He had a few hot rod cars in his day that he loved. Above all, Steve enjoyed his family.

Steve is survived by his children, Bobby Kellis (Gwen) of Roanoke, Virginia, Tony Kellis (Missy) of Tampa, Florida, Corey Kellis (Christy) of Des Moines, Shawn Kellis (Kaylee) of Ankeny, Ashley Harmon (Mike) of Indianola; step-children, Trina Jackson (Billy), Lloyd Lee, Jr. (Penny), Joshua Lee; brothers, Michael Kellis and William Kellis II; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Rebecca Kellis; parents, William and Patricia Kellis; daughter, Melody Kellis; and two grandchildren.

Services will be held on Monday, July 12, 2021 at Hamilton’s Altoona Funeral Home, 105 4th Street SW, Altoona. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by funeral service at 12:00 p.m. Burial will take place at Altoona Cemetery after the services.
