Sandra L. Williams

Sandra Loire Williams, age 87, passed away Saturday, June 26, 2021.

Sandy was born January 26, 1934 in Des Moines, Iowa to Henry D. and Cleo Muree (Caulkins) Welshhons. She married John “Jack” R. Williams, Sr. on January 9, 1978. She worked as an accounting clerk for Allied Insurance Co. for ten years, retiring in 1996. After retirement, she and Jack enjoyed living New Mexico for 16 years. Sandy enjoyed traveling with her children when they were young, and in later years, with her husband Jack. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy and she adored them all. She did extensive genealogy research tracing her lineage back to her ancestors arriving on the Mayflower. She loved watching Hallmark movies while cuddling with her little dog, Charlie. Sandy had a sweet tooth and some of her favorite treats were peanut butter cups, vanilla ice cream, pecan sandies, and chocolate sundaes with pecans.

She is survived by her son, Steve (Linda) Cunningham; step-children, Jack Jr. (Robin) Williams, Randy (Diane) Williams, Jamie (Amber) Williams, and Shelly (Terry) Buseman; grandchildren, Jessica (Mark) Perkins and Travis (Ashlee) Palmer; great-grandchildren, Colt and Tillee Palmer, Kilian and Kaylin Perkins; and numerous step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.

Sandy’s dog, Charlie, has found his forever home with Sandy’s special friend, Angie Wier.

Sandy was preceded in death by her husband, Jack; daughter, Denise Palmer-Weise; step-daughter, Kris Buseman; parents, Henry and Muree Welshhons; sister, Karen Welshhons; and her great-grandson, Roman Palmer.

Services will be held on Saturday, July 3, 2021 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Burial will take place at Powers-Warren Cemetery in Runnells after the funeral.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to the family in loving memory of Sandy.
