Glenn LeRoy Williams
June 26, 2021
Glenn LeRoy Williams, age 67, passed away Saturday, June 26, 2021.
Glenn was born November 2, 1953 in Des Moines, Iowa to Glenn H. and Bertha (Prock) Williams. He married Julie Lyons on August 19, 1978. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy. Glenn was a talented carpenter and his work was well-known. At one point he owned his own company – H & W Woodworking. Glenn had a great sense of humor and would give you the shirt off his own back. He was always the life of the party. He loved his current job at Elevate Living where he helped with maintenance and carpentry. Glenn taught his children that dirty hands make clean money, and that a flawed man is as worthy of Christ as a preacher. He was a devoted grandfather who lived for his grandchildren, often putting them ahead of his own health.
He is survived by his wife, Julie; children, Jayme (Jamee) Williams and Molly (Miles) Williams; grandchildren, Maddy Southern, Sean Williams, Jesse Wadle, Declan Wadle, Evelyn Williams, Jerome Wadle, Wyatt Southern, and Martee Kay Williams; sisters, Glenda (Don) Block, Laura Williams, Debra (Mike) Moore; and many nieces, nephews, other extended family and friends.
Glenn was preceded in death by his parents and nine siblings.
Services will be held on Friday, July 2, 2021 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Burial with military honors will take place at Laurel Hill Cemetery after the funeral.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to the family in loving memory of Glenn.
