Gary Parker

Gary L. Parker, 81, passed away June 25, 2021. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, July 1, 2021 at Hamilton's on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway, West Des Moines. Visitation will be held from 5:00 - 7:00 pm on Wednesday, June 30, 2021 also at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service at Waukee Cemetery.
Gary was born June 16, 1940 in Walnut, Iowa to Ira and Lolita (Briggs) Parker. He married Karen Ackart on April 15, 1961.

Gary will be remembered for his keen sense of humor and unwavering love for his family. He loved a good get together filled with kids and activity. His favorite saying was “All you need in life is two things, laughter and good music.”

He is survived by his children, Debora Parker, Donna (Larry) Riedel, Deanna (Scott) Spry, Dan (Lisa) Parker, and Dave (Kelsey) Parker; 12 grandchildren, Alan (Stacy) Laake, Susie (Matt) Nelson, Ellie Riedel, Laura (Tom) Heifner, Sarah (Jon) Denney, Megan (Robert) Tilley, Chris (Nat) Laake, Morgan, Brock, Abigail, Bryce and Ira Parker; and great-grandchildren, Henlei, Mallorie, Taylor, Tristan, Alexis, Caelan, Evie, Zach, Braxton, and Scarlett; brothers, Gayle and Lynn Parker.

Gary was preceded in death by his wife, Karen; grandson, Joey Laake; and 8 siblings.
