James Gustaf Beebe, age 72, passed away Tuesday, June 22, 2021 at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City.

James was born February 7, 1949 in Des Moines, Iowa to Anna and Donald Beebe. He worked as a diesel mechanic and truck driver until 2018 when he retired. He served in both the U. S. Navy and Army.

He enjoyed cooking, racing and spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his sister, Linda (Bruce) Gauley; brother, Doug (Jodi) Beebe; daughters, Mary “Pepper” (Allen) Sanders, Amy (Jake) Dunbar; four grandsons, one granddaughter, one great-granddaughter, and many nieces and nephews.

James was preceded in death by his parents, Anna and Donald (Norma).

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, July 15, 2021 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 16, 2021, also at the funeral home, and will be followed by a luncheon.
