William Arthur “Ted” Coulson

William Coulson, age 91, passed away on Monday, June 21, 2021, at Valley View Village in Des Moines. He was born the son of Robert and Lula (Buckridge) Coulson on November 28, 1929, in Des Moines, Iowa.

Ted attended East High School with the Class of 1948, after which he enlisted in the U.S. Army and proudly served from 1947-1952 and the Air National Guard from 1959-1962. Upon his return, Ted began work as a dental lab technician for Dr. Craven Dental Lab for 60 years. He was a member of the Highland Park American Legion Post #374 and VFW Post 9662 – Boline Manfredi. During his time at Valley View Village, Ted was the Chairman of the Chapel Committee, President of Resident Council, a member of the Men’s Club, he transported residents from health care to the chapel, and led bible study, helped usher, and serve communion. His bright smile, generosity, and willingness to always help will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 68 years, Rose Mary; sons, Robert (Deb) Coulson and Ted (Jama) Coulson; 5 grandchildren, Christy (Gary) Adams, Bobby (Michelle) Coulson, Jason (Leslie) Coulson, Angela Coulson, and Jamie Coulson; 11 great-grandchildren, Madison, Blaine, Katie, Abby, Nate, Chloe, Destiny, Taylor, Colten, Kollen, and Ashlynn; 2 great-great-grandchildren, Harper and Clayton; and sister, Janet.

Ted was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Frances, Richard, Leo, James, Betty, and Alice Jean.

Family will greet friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Friday, June 25, 2021 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Private urn burial will be held at Iowa Veterans Cemetery, Adel.
