Joel Harper

Joel Amos Harper, age 58, passed away Friday, June 18, 2021.

Joel was born August 30, 1962 in Newton, Iowa to Paul and Roma (Talbot) Harper. Family was his first priority and his grandkids meant the world to him. He was proud to have worked as a truck driver and his CB handle was “The Real Deal Road Kill 670”. He loved being out on the road with his motorcycle. Joel was an amazing cook and he was famous for his lasagna, meatloaf and chili.

He is survived by his wife, Kathy; children, Joel Potter, Jed Harper, Chasity (Fred) Csader; grandchildren, Jordan, Caydin, Nathan, Cole, Kaylee, Haley, Leeann, Mason; mother, Roma; siblings, Paulette, Rick, Doug, Jeff, Becky, Tim, Danny; nieces and nephews, Heather, Autumn, Jacob, Heath, Jaren, Jessica, Brandon, Jason, Jimmy, Josh, Dusty, and Colton.

Joel was preceded in death by his dad, Paul; grandson, Tanner Potter; nieces, Tiffany Potter, Brittnay Murray; brother-in-law, Dwayne Potter; and sister-in-law, Brenda Murray.

Services will be held at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines on Friday, June 25, 2021. Visitation will begin at 12:00 p.m., followed by a memorial service at 2:00 p.m.
