Eric A. Plummer
June 19, 2021
Eric Allen Plummer, 44, passed away Saturday, June 19, 2021.
Eric was born December 13, 1976 in Des Moines, Iowa to Richard Allen Plummer and Kimberly Kay (Israel) Plummer.
He enjoyed watching an endless amount of movies, had a deep love for music (particularly vintage vinyl and live concerts), and those who knew him knew he loved nothing more than wandering around the Iowa State Fair every year. If you were lucky enough to know Eric, you also knew he thoroughly enjoyed picking on his younger siblings any chance he got, and spoiling his nieces and nephews rotten.
He loved to make up his own recipes, never making the same dish twice since he never wrote any measurements down. He also loved to write, with one published book under his belt and so many more stories he never got to tell. He was always ready to answer anything with a quick-witted response (often times an inappropriate one). He may have had a tough exterior, but underneath all of that, he would do absolutely anything for those he cared about. He was funny. He was loyal. And he was stubborn to a fault.
He will be missed terribly.
He is survived by his father, Rick (Betty) Plummer; siblings, Heather (Ted) Sly, Steve (Heather) Plummer, Marti (Ian) Monroe; nieces and nephews, Maddy and Kylie Sly, Jax Plummer, Ezra Monroe; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Eric was preceded in death by his mother, Kim Israel; and his grandparents, Blackie and Polly Israel.
There will be a celebration of life Thursday, June 24, 2021 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. He will be laid to rest at Laurel Hill Cemetery in a private family burial at a later time.
Contributions may be directed to John Stoddard Cancer Center in memory of his mother, Kim.

I was lucky enough to meet Eric through his brother Steve and wife Heather. We quickly became close friends. He always made me laugh, was up for a beer at the lucky monk, and was there for me times I needed to talk. I already miss him terribly and my deepest sympathies to his family, I cant imagine how painful this must be. Youre all in my thoughts.

I'm totally heartbroken to hear of Eric's passing. I hadn't seen him in a couple years, but I was always happy to see him when I would run into him around town.
Eric was one of the first friendly people I met when I first moved to Des Moines. We met volunteering for the DMMC and bonded quickly over our love of live music. I'm so sad now there's no chance I might bump into him again at another show, give him a hug, and hear him make fun of my outfit.
Sending my love to his family.

I am profoundly saddened by this news. Eric was always one to "keep you on your toes". To say I will miss him is truly an understatement. To his family and to his father Rick, I will pray and hope for you the knowledge that he is now with his mother brings you all comfort.
