Forrest McCleeary

Forrest Max McCleeary passed away on Sunday morning, June 20, 2021 telling stories about his beloved wife, Marilyn who passed away only 25 days prior.
Forrest was born to Walker and Marie McCleeary in Winterset, Iowa on July 6, 1928. Forrest retired after working for the Des Moines Register for 47 years. He spent the majority of his life in Iowa except for two years where he served in the United States Army during the Korean War.
He is survived by his children, Barb Darbonnier and Robert (Nancy) McCleeary; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Proceeded in death was his wife, Marilyn; brothers, Phillip, Rodney, James, Donald, and his parents, Walker and Marie.
Family will greet friends for a time of sharing and fellowship from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m on Friday, July 2, 2021 at New Hope United Methodist Church, 4525 Beaver Ave., Des Moines, IA 50310.
Memorial contributions may be directed to New Hope Methodist Church or Calvin Community in loving memory of Forrest McCleeary.

Forrest was an amazing man to his wife who recently passed away. i loved spending time with both Forrest and Marilyn. they would always talk about their kids, grandkids and family members. Forrest you were one of my favorite residents at Calvin and i dont always play the favorite card but i will miss you sweet man. thank you for fighting for our country, and service. much love to you, Marilyn and all the family members. to the family members to both Forrest and Marilyn McCleeary, its been an honor to take care of the couple and they were and will always be the sweetest, most caring people that ive known. im so terribly sorry for the loss of Forrest and Marilyn
