Lenny Gene Wilson, Jr., age 38, passed away Sunday, June 13, 2021.

Lenny was born April 16, 1983 on the Marine Corps base at Camp Pendleton near Oceanside, California. He graduated from Mt. View High School in Tucson, Arizona. Lenny moved to Des Moines in 1983. He served in the Iowa Army National Guard as MOS 63B10 Wheeled Vehicle Mechanic and earned his Associates Degree in Business Management from Kaplan University.

Lenny was a jack of all trades and loved fixing anything. He recently obtained his Building Inspector’s License. He married Amber on February 29, 2020. Lenny loved his family above all else. His wife and his children were always first priority. He was a great father, husband, brother, son, and friend. Lenny liked to throw magnets into lakes to “magnet fish”. He loved working on cars as well. In fact any car that was in the driveway was fair game. He also loved his cats, Mischief and Tabbie, even if he pretended otherwise. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife, Amber Wilson; children, Mackenzie, Ayden, and Reese; father, Lenny Wilson, Sr. (Debbie); mother, Janice Covert (Jim Kindred); brother, Jacob Sterling (Rene); sisters, Tina Sterling, Chasiti Covert (Kyle), Amanda Rice (Jason), and Heather Oathout (David); grandparents, Howard Wilson, Don and Bev Kindred; and numerous other loving family members and friends.

Lenny was preceded in death by his grandparents, Virginia and Jack Covert and Sheri Wilson.

There will be a celebration of life at a later date.
