Gloria J. Bloome

Gloria Jean Bloome, age 72, passed away Sunday, June 13, 2021.

Gloria was born February 9, 1949 in Graettinger, Iowa to Richard and Ethel (Iverson) Swalve. She was a kind and giving person. If she knew you, you were getting a Christmas present! Gloria enjoyed all the holidays, but Halloween was her favorite. She was a hard worker who deeply loved her family and dogs. Gloria will be lovingly remembered as a strong woman who gave her all in everything she did and for the ones she loved.

She is survived by her son, Jerrydean Cline (Christina Vasquez); daughter, Cheryl Ortega (Leo Brodrick); brothers, Lawrence, Leroy (Paula) and Leonard Swalve; sister, Mary Swalve; grandchildren, Joe and Stephanie Benton; six great-grandchildren; and numerous extended family and friends.

Gloria was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Tom Rios.

Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m., followed by funeral service at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, June 19, 2021 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines.
