Karen's life honored and served those around her, those she loved, and those that needed love. She was the solid rock in the the stormy sea, the ray of sunshine in the cloudy sky, the water to the thirsty flower. At the tender age of 18, we met as freshman roomies and I instantly felt a connection, a sisterhood. Even after almost 40 years, she's still the best listener I ever met. Her work ethic was inspirational, her love of humor kept my homesickness from destroying me, her focus on family and loved ones helped me mature and to reflect on the things that really matter in this world. I always knew she would give me her honest opinion. She was a true and steadfast friend.

I had the pleasure of working with Karen when I was in high school when she was a lifeguard at Northampton pool. She definitely had a great sense of humor and made it fun to work there. So sad to hear of her passing. Her spirit will live on through our memories.
