Mary Katherine Parrish

Mary Katheryn Parrish, 87, died Thursday, October 1, 2009 at the Iowa Veteran's Home in Marshalltown. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, October 6, 2009 at the Basilica of St. John, 1915 University Avenue, followed by burial at Glendale Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service.
Mary was born June 19, 1922 in Marshalltown and was raised by James and Marian Parrish in Des Moines. She graduated from Roosevelt High School in Des Moines and served in WWII as a Gunnery Instructor, Technician Third Class for the Navy WAVES. Mary graduated from Drake University at age 62 and was a writer and an artist. She was a member of the Basilica of St. John.
Mary is survived by her children, Tyree Luck (Beth) Campbell III, Georgia (Ray) Middleton, Coralie Campbell, Dandon (Kenilee) Campbell, Cecilia (David) Naughton, Theresa (Don) Hering, Susan Campbell, Christopher (Terri) Campbell, Jacks’son Timothy, and Michael Campbell; 19 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and a host of other family and beloved friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; child, Frances; grandson, James Elisha Farmer; and brothers, Donald and Eugene.
Memorial contributions may be made to The Homestead in Altoona where her son, Michael resides.
