Joshua Jaehun Jeun, 39, passed away May 30, 2021. Services will be held at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines, IA on Friday June 18, 2021 at 7:00 pm. With visitation prior from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.

Joshua was born December 13, 1981 to Young Jou and Ok Ja Jeun in Des Moines, Iowa. At an early age Joshua trained and learned Tae Kwon Do from his father eventually mastering the art. Later he attended the University of Iowa and obtained a degree in Business Management. After graduating Joshua had the opportunity to teach English in Japan and he settled there for a number of years. On his return to Des Moines he developed a passion for neuroscience eventually obtaining a second degree in Psychology from Drake University. Soon after he began traveling again and began focusing on his spirituality and his practice of meditation. He spent months at a Buddhist monastery where he mediated alongside monks and learned about traditions, beliefs, and culture. This journey then led Joshua to maintain a vow of silence for over a year. Joshua also enjoyed art, music, reading, biking, and spending time teaching and playing with his niece Sydney.

Joshua was a compassionate, sincere, and joyful being whose desire was to combine his passions for art, science, and meditation to contribute to the reduction of human suffering.
Although Joshua was never married nor had children of his own, he was loved by all that knew him and had a special bond with his niece Sydney, who he adored. Joshua will be dearly missed by his father Young, mother Ok Ja, brother Jesse, sister-in-law Dana, niece Sydney, and all that were lucky enough to call him a friend and receive his signature hugs.

Quote from Joshua:
“To everyone that has been in my life, whether it be for a moment or for years, whether still now or many years past, or in a positive or negative light. I wish only to say one thing from the depths of my heart… Thank you. Thank you for being awesome in your own way and helping to shape my life’s path. You might never truly know how grateful I am for the moments you all have shared with me. Just know that you are all beautiful, wonderful, and loved! Much Love and Respect.” – Joshua Jaehun Jeun
