Melba G. Dudley

Melba Genell Dudley passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 2, 2021 at Taylor House Hospice at the age of 86.

Melba was born July 7, 1934 in Rice, Texas to John and Veda Clark. She has been a resident of the Des Moines area for the past 60 years, previously living in Portales, NM and El Campo, TX. Melba worked for a packing house, then as a receptionist for James W. Bell, Inc., and later in the insurance industry. She was a member of the Stamping Card Club.

She is survived by her children, Glenn Dudley, Diane Dudley (Delbert), Gayla McLaughlin (Tony), and Gary Dudley (Sandy); ten grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; siblings, John L. Clark, Jerell Clark, and Brenda Gamble; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Melba was preceded in death by her husband, Loren; parents, John and Veda Clark; and granddaughter, Brooke Genell.

Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m., followed by funeral service at 1:00 p.m., Monday, June 7, 2021 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Burial will take place at Rising Sun Cemetery after the funeral.
