Judith Margaret Phillips Woods was born April 19, 1940. She left us on angel wings on May 23, 2021 to join her departed loved ones Ronald Woods and William Hamilton, her father Manuel Evans Phillips, her mother Frances Jayne Phillips (Escher), and brother Robert Manuel Phillips.
Left to cherish her memory and hold her forever in our hearts are her daughters, Tracie Bishop, Karen Atkinson, and Mia Woods, her brother, Evans Eugene Phillips (Betty), grandchildren, Mia Bishop, Jennifer Bishop, Zachary Woods, Roxann Bishop, Alex Chalk, Hannah Woods, Taylor Chalk, Abbie Chalk and Mikaela Woods. She also had many great grandchildren as well as many nieces, nephews, and other family and friends who loved her dearly. Great grandchildren include, Craig Connett Jr., Caralynn DeKeyzer, Manuel DeKeyzer, Evan Bishop, Anna Zepeda, Jaxson Zepeda, Della and Bennie Chalk, and Reign Guzman.
Judy was a lifelong Des Moines resident attending North High School. Anyone who knew Judy knew she had a great love for animals big and small and loved working as a veterinary medicine technician for 35 years. God now has a great helper with taking care of the creatures in Heaven. She loved her family fiercely and took great joy in spending time with family. She will always be our loving Mama Bear and we will miss her dearly.
We would like to thank the caring staff at John Stoddard Cancer Center and Iowa Methodist Hospital, especially Rebekah for their care of our mother in her time of need.
Memorial contributions may be made in her name to the ARL of Central Iowa.
A visitation to remember Judy and greet friends and family will be held Saturday June 12, 2021 from 2 to 4 PM at Hamilton's Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW Ninth Street, Des Moines Iowa.
