Kenneth Bennett, age 67, passed away on Monday, May 31, 2021, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. He was born the youngest of 13 children on September 30, 1953 in Des Moines, Iowa. Kenny was a hard worker from a very young age, he had the paper route and worked at McDonalds before graduating from Des Moines Tech in 1972. Kenny worked as a truck driver and retired from UPS in 2012. He was a very proud Teamsters Union member for 30+ years.

Some of his hobbies and interests included going on road trips, mechanic work, stock car racing, and being an avid Hawkeye fan. He enjoyed coaching baseball at the Fairgrounds and supporting his grandchildren’s activities. More than his hobbies, Kenny loved people and people loved him. Whether it be a family member, a close friend, colleague, or a stranger, Kenny never shied away from a long conversation. Conversing on the phone and going out to eat with family always made his day. Kenny will be remembered for never holding a grudge and being a jokester.

He is lovingly survived by his son, Richie (Erica) Bennett; daughter, Candace (Tyler) Goode; grandchildren, Tiera Bennett, Turner Bennett, and Lillian Goode; and his siblings, Raymond Bennett, Dale (Barb) Bennett, Bev (Leo) Barry, and Leona (Chuck) Henry.

Kenny was preceded in death by his son, Rodney Bennett; parents, Ward and Helen Bennett; wife, Vicki Bennett; siblings, Richard, Joy, Vern, Max, George, Virginia, Phyllis, and Connie.

Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m., Thursday, June 10, 2021, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street. Funeral services will be held 9 a.m., Friday, June 11th also at the funeral home, with burial to follow at Fairview Cemetery in Desoto, Iowa.
