Debra Sue Alexander, 64 of Indianola, Iowa entered the gates of heaven Monday, May 31, 2021 surrounded by her loving family.
Debra was born on December 23, 1956 in Fort Knox, Kentucky to Susan & Russell Coate. She attended East High School in Des Moines, Iowa. Debbie was a homemaker and absolutely loved caring for all of her grandbabies. She loved and cherished her family more than anything in life. She was an amazing crafter and she had a green thumb like no other. She enjoyed cooking, crocheting, cross stitching, gardening, she took pride in making afghans for all her children and grandchildren.
Debra is survived by her husband Anthony Alexander, mother Susan Barber, children James (Mary) Lyons, Daniel (Ashley) Lyons, Heather (Neal) Kloberdanz, Randi (Clay) Gillson, Michelle (Stephanie) Williams, Shannon (Dale) Giles, Amy (Jeremiah) Johnson, 25 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, siblings Sheryl (Donald Woodford), Randy (Debra) Coate, Julie Woods, Sandy O’Braza and Larry (Dana) Coate and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her father Russell Coate and brother Russell Coate Jr.
Debra Sue is loved by many and will be greatly missed by the people who blessed her life. Our memories and your loving smile will live within us forever.
The family would like to thank the staff on Powell 4 at UnityPoint Health. The compassion and love that they showed our mother and our family will forever be appreciated.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, June 19, 2021 from 2:00 to 6:00 at the Annett Nature Center in Indianola, Iowa.

Grandma, you were an amazing woman, with great strength. You were incredibly smart you always had the answers to everything. Instead of cherishing the time we had, I'm here being selfish wishing we had more time. You'll forever be loved and missed. You're memory will continue to live on through us!
