Marilyn McCleeary

Marilyn Kester McCleeary, 90, passed away on May 25, 2021 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. She was born in Tingley, Iowa on January 16, 1931, the daughter of George and Beulah Kester.
Marilyn graduated from Tingley High School. She lived the majority of her life in the Des Moines area except for the two years her husband was serving in the United States Army. Marilyn worked at American Family, retiring after 20 years of service.
Marilyn is survived by her husband of 70 years, Forrest McCleeary; daughter, Barbara Garbonnier; son, Robert (Nancy) McCleeary; brother, Marvin Kester; 5 grandchildren; and 7 great grand-children. She was preceded in death by her parents.
A private graveside service will be held at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be directed to New Hope Methodist Church, 4525 Beaver Ave., Des Moines, IA 50310, in loving memory of Marilyn.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Calvin Community, especially Val, who adopted Marilyn and Forrest as her own parents.
