Service Details

Naomi Lee Overlin, 71-, died Thursday, February 1, 2007 at her home. Funeral services will be held at Noon Wednesday, February 7, 2007 at Berean Assembly of God Church, 5225 Maple Street in Pleasant Hill, with burial at Sandyville Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 2-8 p.m. with family present from 5-8 p.m. at Hamilton’s Mitchellville Funeral Home, 303 Center Avenue South.
Naomi was born May 22, 1935 in Oskaloosa to Cephus and Kathryn Wright. She started her school years in Givin, Iowa and graduated from Indianola High School. She lived in the Indianola area until 1985 when she married Gilbert Overlin and moved to Mitchellville. Naomi was a member of the Mitchellville United Methodist Church and Quilting Club. She was active in the Share Foods Program, Vacation Bible School, and attended Summerset Baptist Church. Naomi retired as an auditor for the State of Iowa.
Naomi made a home with Gilbert and joined Gilbert’s five children, four grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren to her own family, making them one. She always had enough love and support for each family member, always making them feel special.
Naomi is survived by her father, Cephus and Lorna Wright; children, Jim and Patty Lawr of Ackworth, John and Beth Lawr of Merced, CA, Kathy Wood of Sandyville, Karen Lawr of Beech, Jerry and Jo Jo Lawr of Mitchellville, Kristy Lawr of Creston, and Karla and Bob Martindale of Sandyville; 25 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; siblings, Sandra and Keith Bowman of Boise, ID, Stanley and Helen Wright of Des Moines, Julia and Dan Payne of Hawk Point, MO, Bud and Jane Wright of Des Moines, Sarah and Ben Hamilton of Chatsworth, GA, Greg and Sue Wright of Indianola, Jeff and Charlene Wright of St. Louis, MO, Kevin and Thelma Wright and Susan and Donny Bensley, both of Des Moines; and a host of other family and beloved friends.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Kathryn Wright; son, Jack Lawr; grandson, Jeremiah Lawr; great-grandson, Joseph Schrader; sister, Mahala Judkins; and brother, Art Wright.
