Edward Malmanger, Jr.
May 18, 2021
Edward Malmanger passed away May 18, 2021 at Methodist West Hospital in West Des Moines, IA. Ed was born February 16, 1955 to Marilyn and Edward Malmanger, Sr., in Clinton, IA. Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 22, 2021 at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines. Visitation will be 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. also at the funeral home.
Ed graduated from DeWitt High School and attended college in Cedar Rapids and Iowa City. He was a successful salesman in the logistics and trucking industry and loved his position as National Sales Manager with Koch trucking. His excellent salesmanship was recognized with many awards throughout his 46-year career.
Ed married Karen in 1981 and they welcomed their first child Nicole “Nikki” the next year. Their son Thomas “Tom” was welcomed into the family four years later. Ed enjoyed traveling, and the family took many trips together. The annual family trip to the Lake of the Ozarks was always the highlight of Ed’s summer. Cruising was a favorite pastime of his, with number 25 scheduled this November.
Other hobbies that Ed enjoyed included visiting wineries, watching other people remodel their homes on HGTV, and keeping his own home neat and tidy. You knew Ed had vacuumed when the lines on the carpet were as straight as a pin! No one will ever be able to recreate those carpet lines….and he will be dearly missed.
Ed is survived by his wife, Karen; daughter, Nicole “Nikki” (Stephen) Bruere; son, Thomas “Tom” (Ellen) Malmanger; grandchildren, Blake, Brody, Bricia and Brynna Bruere; mother, Marilyn Malmanger; sisters, Judy (William) Schnyer and Jean (Mike) McNeil; nieces and nephews; and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Edward and his brother, Steven.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the family in loving memory of Ed. Online condolences may be expressed at www.HamiltonsFuneralHome.com.

I was a childhood friend of Eddie when he was probably about 4 years old. We lived next door in Grand Mound so I was his daily playmate. He would come into our house before my brother and I were awake and ask "Wanna play ball?" My brother and I were amused by his baseball song: "Baby baseball can't catch me." I had not see Eddie since the late 50's. It would have been great to renew memories. I remember his kind mother, Marilyn, who I believe was a nurse at that time. My condolences and prayers for the family.

I know Ed through work, our companies work together. Ed took another employee and I to lunch every few months. He always shared great stories about his travels and family. Ed was very easy to talk to, and always happy. I'll miss our lunch meetings. Thinking of the family during this difficult time.
