Aola Louise Henkle, 92, passed away May 13, 2021 at Altoona Nursing and Rehabilitation.

Aola was born May 29, 1928. Her parents were Everette and Mae (Jordan) Roe.
She grew up in Stuart and graduated from Stuart High School with the class of 1946. On June 14, 1945, she married Gene Henkle in Omaha , NE. After six years of marriage, Gene was called back into military service for the Korean War where he served at a Royal airbase in England and during this time Aola lived in nearby Oxford. After returning from England they settled in Des Moines, IA. Aola worked outside the home for insurance companies and a publishing company for years. After many unsuccessful years of starting a family, finally Cynthia Louise “Cindy” was born on April 14, 1960. Aola and Gene were members of the Forester Trailer Club and enjoyed camping. She attended Indianola Heights Evangelical Free Church for many years. After Gene passed away of cancer on June 16, 1986 she resumed her interest in traveling and visited all 50 states. She was an avid reader and loved to play cards. She enjoyed attending gospel concerts and going out to eat with friends along with spending time with her family.

Aola is survived by her daughter, Cindy (Terry) Stockbauer; her granddaughter, April (Anthony) Carra; her grandson, Brian Gene Stockbauer; great granddaughter, Samantha and a host of extended family and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Clair Henkle.

A graveside service will be held Tuesday, May 18, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Des Moines.
