Albert Campbell, age 79, passed away at his home on Tuesday, May 11, 2021, surrounded by his loving family. He was born the son of Hugh and Sara (Morehouse) Campbell on July 22, 1941, in Diagonal, Iowa. Albert married Dorothy Smith on February 20, 1988 on Dorothy’s parent’s 50th wedding anniversary.

He worked at Johnston High Schools for 30 years and later worked for Prairie Meadows for 15 years until his retirement. In his free time, he and Dorothy enjoyed gambling and playing the slot machines together. Albert was a true outdoorsman, who enjoyed fishing and hunting. As a child, Albert loved farming, and taking care of the livestock on his uncle, Charlie’s farm. Above everything, he treasured time spent with his family and will be deeply missed.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Dorothy; children, William Lee Campbell, Herb Clark (Tonika), Kim Eddinger (Larry), and Dale Clark (Shallon); 6 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchild; and sister, Helen Smith.

Albert was preceded in death by his parents; brother, George Campbell; brother-in-law, Leroy Smith; and sister-in-law, Margaret Smith.

Visitation will be held from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m., with funeral service to begin at 2:00 p.m., Monday, May 17, 2021, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Interment will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery in Des Moines, Iowa.
